Ancient tales newly told within a rich tapestry of colour and music, these Classic teachings were never more relevant than in our present age! The Linnaea School Plays are poignant, beautiful and full of outrageous fun.
Now at last the plays have been made completely accessible on disc and the joy and the learning previously experienced only by the Linnaea School students is available to all who wish to partake in the magic! For the Linnaea School students (50 students ranging in age from 5 to 14), teachers, parents, volunteers and creators, each play has been the culmination of an amazing and exciting six week learning process involving drama, choir and dance rehearsals; the creation of sets, props and costumes; and even a social studies or science theme linked to the chosen story. Participation in the process teaches responsibility and teamwork and students learn many valuable life skills by giving their “all” to something they love. Each child has a role and each is celebrated for his or her efforts regardless of the size of the part. Drama is the playground of all children. Music is a voice they all can share. Artistic expression is the spirit within each of us allowing us to experience our world in a unique and intimate way.
Costumes were created by the dedication of Linnaea’s own parents under the talented direction of parent and artist, Meinsje Vlaming. They were all produced from borrowed clothing and the wealth of the local Thrift Store.
The packaging of these plays has been the dream of the creators, script writer/director, Donna Bracewell, and composer/musician, Denise Reinhardt Wolda, for the past ten years. This process in itself has demanded the time and talents of photographers, graphic artists, writers, recording engineers, musicians and computer technicians.

EACH PLAY PACKAGE CONTAINS: A Data CD, a Music CD, a VHS or DVD live recording of the play and a frontice page with table of contents and instructions for finding and using the files.
The DATA CD contains folders pertaining to our Philosophy, SCRIPT (table of contents, synopsis, and complete script), MUSIC (full musical notation and Lyric/Chord Charts for each song), COSTUMES (tips and contacts), SETS (tips), DANCE (tips), and many PHOTOGRAPHS of many scenes in our performance of the play. Each play is approx. 1.5 hours long but almost all contain many smaller stories that would stand alone as a short performance.
The MUSIC CD contains studio recordings of each of the songs composed for the play (recorded by Denise Wolda and Ann Mortifee) as well as “live” recordings of the children singing the songs during performance.
