Cortes Literacy Now has presented many learning opportunities and events to Cortes Islanders since 2009. These include children's story and craft time, youth 'zine publications, author evenings, ongoing digital literacy trainings, many types of workshops from starting a small business to intergenerational film-making to memoir writing, and much more.

The broad definition of literacy that guides the task group is: the ability to understand and use information in daily activities, at home, in the community, and at work. Literacy is an essential skill which allows people to reach their full potential. Literacy is everyone’s responsibility.

Do you have a literacy program that you think would be valuable to offer in our community? Cortes Literacy Now has funding for up to five community grants of $500-$1,500.
