The goal of this workshop is to help Cortes Islanders understand the ways in which wildfire might threaten structures and property located in/close to forested and wildland areas. Also will discuss steps individuals and communities can take to reduce susceptibility of buildings and property to fire.

Facilitator Bruce Blackwell has over 28 years of experience as a Professional forester and biologist. He is a specialist in forest fire science and has completed numerous projects on this subject including a fire risk assessment for BC and fire management plans for both public and private sectors.

This workshop is brought to you by the Cortes Island Fire Dept and Strathcona Regional District.
