On August 22nd, 2017 Quadra RCMP received a report of a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle's side mirror on Whaletown road, Cortes Island. Police attended and spoke to the pedestrian, a witness , and the driver who has cooperated fully with the investigation. The pedestrian was sent to the Campbell River hospital for further examination. The investigation continues but charges are not expected.
On August 4th, 2017 Quadra RCMP received a report of a vacation home being broken into on Whaletown road on Cortes Island. Several things have been going missing over the past couple months. If you have any information regarding this incident please contact Quadra RCMP or Crimestoppers.
On August 3rd, 2017 RCMP received a report of a stolen bike from the area of Highfield and Sutil Point road on Cortes Island. The bike is a Cannondale Quick with a black and white frame with red pin striping. If you locate this bike please contact the Quadra RCMP so we can return it to its rightful owner.
Since the beginning of August the Quadra RCMP has issued five 90 day Immediate Roadside prohibitions (IRPs), one 7 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP), two 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs). Police also issued a 24 hour and 12 hour suspension to two drivers operating a vehicle with a class 7 drivers licence with alcohol in their system (Class 7 licences stipulate that they cannot have any alcohol in their system).
On August 24th, 2017 RCMP received a report of mischief and vandalism to the fence surrounding the Quadra cemetery. It appears that a vehicle may have struck the fence in the past week or so causing damage to a couple of the posts as well as the fence. On August 24th , 2017 police also received a report of theft from the community garden. Unknown person(s) have been helping themselves to the harvest that other people worked so hard in growing. Please stop raiding the garden. If you need food there are many people on this Island that are willing to help all you have to do is ask. The police can also put you in touch with social services in Campbell River for financial assistance, shelter, and/or food.
On August 18th, 2017 Quadra RCMP received a report of a theft of a seat from a commercial vessel that was moored at the Heriot Bay Government Docks. Someone stole the black leather seat with fixed arm rests and replaced it with a cheaper seat. If you have any information on this incident contact Quadra RCMP.
On August 5th, 2017 Quadra RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at the Quadra Legion involving several patrons. The disturbance was over by the time police arrived and the offending parties had left. No one was seriously hurt and no charges have been laid.
