Adding to one of the themes in the post recently removed, I once worked for a large cooperative with a very good Human Resources department.
One particularly astute manager in that group had a sentiment he would share with other managers in the organization who were contemplating short sighted or unbalanced solutions to their human resources problems: "Organizations get the workforce they deserve."

The number of help wanted ads an employer posts (sometimes with surprising regularity for the same positions) reflects poor staff retention, which in turn reflects a problem that needs to be addressed.

Being a small community with a limited amount of employment available a lot of people have to deal with situations they would not accept if they had the option of other employment or resources.
