I received an email expressing concern that the zoning bylaw questionnaire may suggest that secondary dwellings and cottages are only permitted in residential zones. This was not the intent. To avoid confusion, the text of the questionnaire has been edited to read (text in bold is the edit):
"All residential zones, as well as a number of other zones on Cortes, permit a cottage or secondary suite. The floor area of cottages or secondary suites is currently limited to 60 m2 (646 sq ft). The principal residence has no size restriction."
The question that follows the above text is not affected by the edit. It remains:
4. Do you agree with the floor area limit of 60 m2 (645 sq ft) for secondary suites and cottages?
For further clarity, the following zones permit secondary suites and cottages:
Residential One (R-1)
Rural Residential (RR-1)
Rural One (RU-1)
Service Commercial One (SC-1)
Resource Commercial One (RC-1)
Tourist Recreational Commercial One (TRC-1)
Tourist Recreational Commercial One (TRC-1A)
Tourist Recreational Commercial Three (TRC-3)
