Public call for Applications to the Cortes Economic Action Planning Steering Committee

The Cortes Island Business and Tourism Association (CIBATA), in collaboration with our Regional Director Noba Anderson, is inviting applications for seats at the Cortes Economic Action Planning Steering Committee.

Flowing from the 2015 Economic Development Forum, we have secured some funding to conduct an economic development action plan for Cortes over the course of 2017. The purpose of the Local Economic Action Plan (LEAP) Steering Committee is to guide and inform the LEAP project and provide direction and input to the LEAP Coordinator and consultant on the economic opportunities and strategic direction for Cortes Island. Membership will be assessed based first on a best effort to have broad representation from various economic sectors on Cortes and also on the member’s ability to work collaboratively and positively in a group, their respect and influence within the Cortes community, as well as their ability to think in a big-picture way.

In addition to one seat reserved for a representative from the Cortes Island Business and Tourism Association, the Klahoose First Nation, and the Regional Director, we are looking for representation from the following economic sectors on the island:

o Social Profit
o Forestry
o Tourism
o Aquaculture
o Retail
o Building / Trades
o Learning / Professional Development
o Agriculture
o Medicinal Marijuana
o Health
o Seniors

Please submit expressions of interest along with any organisational or sector affiliation by email by February 1st to Eric Hargrave at ericcortescoop.ca or Noba Anderson at directorcortesisland.com. Committee members are expected to meet monthly for one year. Please see the attached draft Terms of Reference for the Committee.

Thanks for considering this call for applications.
