“I heard a bird sing in the dark of December
A magical thing and sweet to remember…”
A Christmas Bird Count for youth will happen on Sunday, December 18, in the Children’s Forest and finishing at Carrington Bay. This event is co-sponsored by the Children’s Forest Trust & CIMAS, in conjunction with Bird Studies Canada and the National Audubon Society. This event is the longest standing citizen scientist project in North America; see the informative write-up posted by CIMAS on Tideline. The Children’s Forest youth participated last year and we hope to make this an annual happening.
We will depart from Coulter Bay at 10:00 am and return about 2:00 pm.
If possible, children should bring binocs, a birding fieldbook, hearty lunch, and keen eyesight and hearing. Dress warmly. No dogs, please.
