Thank you again to the community for coming together in such impressive numbers on the traditional territory of the Klahoose to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.
Thank you also to Michelle Robinson, Ken Hanuse, Rose Hansen, Jacqueline Mathieu, Dancing Wolf, and Hannu for holding critical roles in the evening's creation and success.
Over 175 people came out to the Klahoose Hall and were graciously welcomed into the space with traditional song and prayer. As a community we raised $6000 through the donations made to the door, food, silent auction and raffle.
Considering the somewhat dire news, now more than ever, we need to stand in solidarity in defense of #nodapl.
The door prize was won by Madhurima; Tradesmen Raffle won by Lisa Gibbons; and 2nd prize Cortes Food Coop basket was won by Eolande Summers. If you won a silent auction item, expect a call Monday to arrange payment.
Darshan and Alex graciously photographed the evening: https://www.facebook.com/pg/CortesIsland/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1106501626142380
A longer post summarizing the event will be made in collaboration with the Klahoose band in the next few days.
*** If you would like to send a note in our package that will be mailed out this week, please drop notes at the Co-op or Gorge Store, labeled Standing Rock.
