Dancing Wolf
Further Along The Path

Cycling towards Community today
we saw more than we usually do
the shadows longer but then hey
that means sun still for me and you

This September that is a special treat
given the summer that felt like Spring
oh it was great, ours really sweet
itís just that warmth is a welcome thing

So too indeed is Harvest time
the blessing of fresh food on the table
I may be some years past my prime
but by Goddess I still am able

to grow some of what we consume
and buy or barter with like hearted others
our garden two or three seasons in bloom
maybe four if we dance with our druthers

Thank You Linnaea for Celebrating
what so many take too often for granted
hundreds of millions in check outs waiting
for produce the farmers have planted

Here on Cortes we grow mostly organic
and not just what we raise in the field
good quality of life is not just botanic
adding love to it all brings more yield

So with the aforementioned in mind
and the Harvest Festival now in sight
we leave the cars and asphalt behind
and find a memorable day of delight

Starting with the lovely lay of the land
a green jewel in the landscape of creation
one need not know farming to understand
the flowering of oneís own elation

Yes this historic farm has allure for sure
inviting us further along the path
yet the grace of this day along with nature
includes the joy in a childís laugh

Many children at play as we rounded the bend
past an orchard much older than our eyes
so cool that we would wind and wend
our way to happy people and home made pies

After donating to the agricultural cause
we entered the fairground with gratitude
So important for my perception, to pause
and open to relational latitude

Many fibres weave into a strand of strength
from the spinning wheel of unity
I appreciate the often great length
the precious few go to create community

Music, food, fun and frolic
were abundant in the afternoon by the lake
a pleasure to have nothing alcoholic,
to have smiles come of their own sake

With gentle songs caressing each ear
and kidís excitement turning them
wondering why more folks werenít here
to partake in this annual gem

So much to celebrate I heard it said
hurray for our island and then some
thanks to each and every farmstead
and to every and each green thumb
