Over 100 literary fans turned out for an evening’s entertainment July 28th in the courtyard outside the Co-op, an event co-hosted by Marnie’s Books and the Cortes Island Museum.
Priya Huffman, poet, ably and sensitively introduced Norm, who after thanking his key people, read 5 sections from his new book “Sea without Shores”, part two of his trilogy about Desolation Sound.
Norm then invited his friend and writer, David Abram, to come up and recite a Scotch poem depicting wilderness.
After the break, a compilation of the story teller, Adam, and the dog Duende’s conversations throughout the book was performed by Rex Weyler, as Adam, and George Sirk, as Duende, and was directed by Hanu Wasyliw.
The crowd really enjoyed the performance of these two and I think George Sirk deserves an oscar for his performance as the dog Duende!

So great to see the spirit of Cortes is so alive: beautiful, simple, happy life !
By watching these pics I almost felt I was there, surrounded by all my good ol' friends.
Thanks a lot for the photos, Richard, and thank you all, just for being there, big hugs
