June Cameron lived on Cortes Island until recently when she had to move due to deteriorating health.
June Cameron was an amazing woman who spent much of her life navigating the British Columbia coastline. From early childhood cruising with her parents, to an illustrious racing career as skipper of her own San Juan and C&C sailboats.
She lived aboard her Maple Bay 27 cruiser writing, painting and further discovering the beauty of the region until she moved to Cortez island and resided "on land' overlooking beautiful Cortez bay.
She was the author of two books published by Heritage House and has painted innumerable breathtaking boat portraits that hang in private collections internationally.
June also frequently wrote for Pacific Yachting magazine which features her original artwork in conjunction with articles.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer on Cortes Island.
