the Cortes Island Radio Club and Learning Enterprise is offering:
Amateur Radio Basic Licensing Course, Starting January 16!
Amateur radio remains the only free standing form of communication, allowing people to communicate across the world with limited resources and in very isolated areas. People use amateur radio frequencies for emergency communications, chatting with friends, email, digital communications, and even radio controlled models. It's a fun hobby and a great way to learn about science and communications.
The course starts this Saturday and runs weekly until March 19. The class is being offered for free, although we may need to take the exam on Quadra Island. Details to follow.
Access to a computer is a great asset and an email address is required to obtain your license (Industry Canada requirement).
To register, please contact Amanda Glickman at svpaparumbagmail.com.
Classes to be held Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:30am at Manson's Fire Hall. Class limit of 12, first responders and ESS members given priority.
