The final show of the season at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery in Whaletown opened this Friday August 21st 6-9 pm. It was a group show by its members -And what a show!
This reviewer has the privilege of being a contributing member to both the Old Schoolhouse Gallery and the Cortes Craftshop in Squirrel Cove and between them there is a powerhouse of talent, creativity, and industriousness. The show tonight, right from the organization, to the food display, to the 27 members’ works does not disappoint but only reinforces the unique qualities of the Arts and Crafts on Cortes.
This article only allows 5 pictures, so I’m showing just a few of the new or near new members, I encourage all readers to visit the show again or anew to seriously savour all the talent presented here. It is open 2-6 PM this Saturday and Sunday.
On August 28th 6-9 pm there will be a presentation by Oriane Lee Johnston at 7:30 pm titled Africa, Horses & Ancestors, and the last two days of the season are Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th 2-6 pm.
Thanks to all the faithful viewers and supporters for a great season!
Special thanks goes out to our stalwart organizers of this show, Kathleen Horne, Oriane Lee Johnson, Lynn Marttila, and Caz Ratcliffe. Right from the get go, months ago, they have been organized, efficient, and instructive. They did a fantastic job of co-ordinating and hanging the many pieces in the show. Special mention to Caz for her sumptuous display of the Food Feast and her ever beautiful displays of flowers and foliage.
