Hello everyone
The fight is not over!
Last year, with the support of the Cortes Island Community at large, I was able to participate in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” to help raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation. This is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and raises money for leading edge cancer research. The BC Cancer Agency is on the forefront of research to beat cancer and great strides have been made of late with the Personalized Oncology Genome right here at UBC.

One ride is not enough.
The BC Cancer Agency continually needs to raise funds to carry out its work of improving the care and outcomes for those affected by cancer in British Columbia. Cancer touches many lives in various ways. It is a difficult and life changing diagnosis for the people who are impacted directly as well as their family and friends. The numbers of those facing cancer are staggering even for a small community like Cortes Island. We all know people who survived this arduous journey and we can all bring to mind the names of people who fought valiantly but did not conquer this disease. Our family, like many others, is all too aware of this challenge.

Individually and as a community we need to do all we can to contribute to this important cause. All who enter this major fund raising event are asked to raise a minimum of $2,500. At the start of last year campaign the sum seemed to me to be an unreachable goal but with the incredible support of the people of Cortes and friends in all of Canada I was able to donate $3,852 to the cause. Our team of 65 volunteers raised over $200.000

This year, again, I will be participating in the sponsored bicycle ride from Vancouver to Seattle on August 29-30 2015 Why not join me! New Riders are welcomed. I can guarantee heaching legs and happy heart at the end of the ride to Seattle.

Please help by making donation by July 30th . To reach this goal I'm looking for support from all those in our community who are in a position to help by sponsoring me.
