Lynne Jordan, Cortes Museum
BIG BUNCHES OF ROSES from the Cortes Museum to Doreen & Bill Guthrie who enthusiastically entertained 2 classes of Cortes School students with their stories of homesteading days & growing up on Cortes Island. The senior class learned what Cortes was like before ferry service came here. The intermediate class heard general stories & recollections about the early days for roads, school buses (Bill's dad was the first school bus driver), medical doctors & the Columbia Coast Mission. Doreen & Bill answered many questions from students who learned a lot about earlier times on Cortes Island. Thank you for so generously sharing your time with students at the Museum.
