On December 10th, 2014 Quadra RCMP received a report of a break and enter to the Cortes Market on Sutil Point Road on Cortes Island. Quadra RCMP conducted a thorough investigation and forwarded a report to crown counsel. On March 27th, 2015 charges of break and enter have been laid against Cody ELLIS and Lynson NIELSEN both from the Campbell River area.
Quadra RCMP would like to warn the community of a fraud involving fake bank drafts. This fraud has occurred several times in the past couple months all over Vancouver Island . The suspect(s) make a purchase of a used ATV or motorcycle and then pay using a bank draft which appears legitimate but actually is fake.
On 2015-03-28 Quadra Island RCMP received a report of a domestic disturbance on Read Island in which a male had assaulted two people and then made threats using a knife. The suspect male also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest for Robbery, Assault with a weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Unlawful Confinement, and Uttering Threats. The RCMP requested transportation assistance from the Coast Guard due to the stormy conditions. The RCMP were able to travel to Read Island and safely take the 31 year old male into custody. Quadra RCMP are requesting further charges of Assault with a weapon, Assault X 2, Uttering Threats, Mischief, and Failing to Comply with a Recognizance. The male will be making his first court appearance on 2015-03-30.
