Thank you to all the people that wrote, emailed, phoned and did everything you could to help the three candidates. Thank you to all three candidates for running, it definitely kept the Tideline lively for the last few weeks! The Elections 2014 Special Section is now closed for voting day. We will post the results as soon as we have them, hopefully by 9pm on Saturday November 15th. The Special section will then re-open for another week and then close.

Election by voting will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 to elect one director for an approximate 4 year term of office commencing in December 2014:

Delia Becker
Noba Anderson
Bruce Brown

On general voting day, Saturday, November 15, 2014, polls will be open to qualified electors between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
Klahoose Community Centre, 1730 Tork Road., Squirrel Cove
Manson’s Community Hall, Beasley Road., Manson’s Landing
Gorge Hall, 1375 Robertson Road., Cortes Island
Strathcona Regional District office, #301 – 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River

Resident Elector Registration
Residents of Electoral Area B (Cortes Island) who are registered to vote with Elections BC may already be included on the list of registered electors for their voting jurisdiction. Those residents who are not currently registered to vote may register at any voting opportunity, advance voting opportunity, special voting opportunity or in conjunction with mail balloting. To register as a resident elector, a person must meet the following qualifications:
• Canadian Citizen;
• 18 years of age or older on November 15, 2014;
• resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months at the time of registration;
• resident of Electoral Area B (Cortes Island) for at least 30 days immediately preceding voting day, and
• not otherwise disqualified from voting.

Non Resident Property Elector Registration
Non-residents who own real property within Electoral Area B may be able to register as non-resident property electors for this election. To register as a non-resident property elector, a person must meet the following qualifications:
• not eligible to register as resident elector for Electoral Area B (Cortes Island);
• 18 years of age or older on November 15, 2014;
• Canadian Citizen;

Qualified electors may register and vote at the polling location of their choice but may not vote more than once.
