Thursday night updates...
A bear was seen tonight hanging out at Curious Farm on Olmstead Road.
Earler Dan reported:
He (or she) was seen on the beach at the end of Seavista today, June 19th, around 2/2:30 PM. It was headed north, away from the ferry, on the beach towards Camp Island.
t was my neighbour who saw the bear.. she is from Phillipines and first time seeing a bear. She was quite scared… it went for the chicken coop and she said came to the house after and quite close maybe 10 feet it seems. It is a big full grown bear. Black color... looked healthy in the photo she showed me.
Someone saw it yesterday aft near Seaford Rd.and someone else going west from Squirrel.
Someone else saw a bear and cub near Carrington. Not the same bear.
So looks like there are now 2 bears on the island one with a cub. Bears can travel quite a distance in a day.
Looks like the one down here was after food. So be careful.
Wednesday June 18
Late this morning a large and hungry black bear tried getting food from chicken coop and home of my neighbour next to Tiber Bay.
Last seen heading inland towards other areas. Could be anywhere on the island.
Be careful as this is a large and very hungry bear.
