Cortes Island School
This week Cortes Island School had a weather station installed. We are now part of the Vancouver Island School-Based Weather Station Network, whose mission is to promote science to the community using the weather.
The School-Based Weather Station Network is made up of weather stations mounted on schools in and around Victoria and Vancouver Island. Data collected at each station are gathered in a central database at UVic and access is provided through the web site.
Each weather station measures atmospheric temperature, atmospheric humidity, UV Index, incoming solar radiation (also termed insolation) wind speed, and wind direction. Atmospheric pressure is actually measured within the console and corrected to sea level. You can access Cortes’ station and the rest of the network via the following links.
