MITLENATCH ISLAND last trip this year is Saturday, June 14. A few spots are left to see this unique sanctuary island in the Salish Sea! Spring wildflowers are blooming & summer hatchings are happening. Enjoy a day cruise aboard MISTY ISLES with skipper/naturalist Mike Moore to see hundreds of nesting seabirds, colourful wildflowers, and eagles, massive Steller's Sea Lions & agile California Sea Lions. Walk the trails. Learn how this island has served First Nation Peoples, early family picnickers, & the Manson brothers who once owned & used this gem in the gulf to raise sheep free from wolf & cougar predation. Today the island is a Provincial Nature Park, the largest sanctuary in the Salish Sea, to protect the hundreds of seabirds that nest there.
Coming from off island, participants need to catch the 8:30 ferry in Campbell River to connect to the first ferry to Cortes. MISTY ISLES departs Cortes Bay at 10:30 a.m. Cost per person is $120 (incl. tax). Bring a lunch
or order vegetarian pizza & salad for $10 when you register for this amazing day trip. Contact Cortes Museum at or 250-935-6340.
