The seventh monthly community meal, held at the Klahoose Multipurpose Building on May 26 was a beautiful evening. There were over 60 attendees and the potluck brought desserts & salads were bountiful. Thank you to all who volunteered and attended.
These community meals have been a great success. We have served over 350 community members a warm meal in great community hall locations (Gorge Hall, Mansons Hall, and Klahoose Multipurpose Building).
I want to give a big thank you to the following people & organizations for supporting this initiative:
-Our wonderful organizers who also tend to work the prep cooking shift - Jim, Corrin, and Russ.
-Our dedicated volunteers (please forgive me if I have missed your name) - Jenn, Shalon, Noba, David, Noella, Heather, Catriona, Kaarina, Bill, Mary Clare, Devin, Alma, Odette, Jaqueline, Meinsje, Delia and many more!
-To all three venues and their staff for providing discounted to free of charge rental.
-To the great food donations we received from local organizations: The Natural Food Coop, the marvelous bread from the Coop Cafe & Bakery, The Gorge Marina, Squirrel Cove, and Gathering Place
-All the people that helped clean the dishes and the space after the big meal
Basically, a big thank you to the whole community!
We are shifting gears for the sunny summer months and these meals will be more casual in an outdoor public location and will be potluck style. Look out for the date (TBD) in the calendar. We will then resume into the normal indoor venues and full meal in October.
We are in NEED of a few more key organizers that can take on organizing a few meals each season. Please reach out to me if you are able to help out in this capacity.
