Lakehouse Society is excited to offer two permaculture workshops lead by Maria McKenty, an experienced and enthusiastic permaculturist. Check out the details below.

Permaculture for Kids – in partnership with FOCI
Permaculture is a way of seeing and thinking that reveals the beauty, balance and patterns in the natural world. Come and explore these principles through fun indoor and outdoor activities like nature walks, drawings, and much more! See these patterns in action in different natural ecosystems and how they relate to human habitats here on Cortes.

When: Tuesday June 3rd 3:15-5PM & Wednesday June 4th 3:15-5:45PM & Thursday June 5th 3:15-5:45PM

Where: We will meet each day at Lakehouse (the old library room at Manson’s Hall). The main entrance is from the parking lot level.

Who: Ages 8-12 *if you do not fit this age range but are interested please contact us.

Cost: $60/child . This low cost is made possible through FOCI bursary. All registration profits go towards lowering tuition for the Lakehouse Society who runs a democratic education center for homeschooled children. Further discounts available to families with a FOCI membership.

Registration deadline Thursday May 29th. We require a minimum of 5 registrants to run this program.

Permaculture Foundations
Permaculture is a way of seeing and thinking that reveals the beauty, balance and patterns in the natural world. Come explore the basic principles and prime concepts. Discover how using succession, stacking, guilds, optimized edge, and energy networks give us a toolkit for creating gardens, farm, homesteads, businesses and communities that are regenerative, resilient and sustainable.

When: Friday May 30th 7-9PM & Saturday May 31st 10AM-4PM

Where: We will meet each day at Lakehouse (the old library room at Manson’s Hall). The main entrance is from the parking lot level.

Who: Ages 13 and up *if you do not fit this age range but are interested please contact us.

Cost: $70. All registration profits go towards lowering tuition for the Lakehouse Society who runs a democratic education center for homeschooled children.
