Hello Cortes Islanders and Quadra Community Credit Union members.
Please find attached to this post a letter to the Coastal Community Credit Union Board and CEO from the myself, the Regional Director representing Sointula and the Mayor of Alert Bay: the three island communities are facing Credit Union branch closures.
The three of us have a meeting scheduled with the board chair, CEO & senior staff this Saturday in Nanaimo to discuss these closures and hopefully receive answers to some of the questions and requests for information contained in this letter.
The business communities on these three affected islands are also responding, including Cortes Island Business and Tourism (CIBAT) and the Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce. Also, MLA Claire Trevena has been in touch with me and CCCU staff. She will be writing a letter and doing what she can. CIBAT and I will likely be organizing a community meeting shortly on this topic. Please send me your thoughts and reaction.
The CCCU AGM will be in Nanaimo, 7:30 on April 16th, at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, 80 Commercial St. We are working to pull together a delegation. If you would like to coordinate attendance, please be in touch.
Thanks, Noba Anderson
