General News · 9th February 2014
The Whaletown Community Club will be holding its AGM on Monday, Feb. 24th at 7.30 PM.
We will look back at the accomplishments of the last year, and elect a slate of officers to carry us forward into the next.
Please think about joining the Board!
To hold a position as officer (President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer) you need to have been a member during the previous year. For committee positions-House and Grounds, Social Convener, Health and Welfare-there is no such requirement.
The Club needs young people to come aboard to put on dances, potlucks, and events for kids, so consider becoming a member at large. You can work with a committee of friends, and choose events that you would like to make happen. The current Board is mostly over 60, and although we young at heart, it is time for somebody with kids to hide the Easter Eggs! And please become a member! Remember that the WCC is truly an example of democracy in action. The Board are your elected representatives, the membership determine Club direction and policies.
Membership forms are available at the meeting, as well you will find one attached to the Newsletter that will soon show up in your Whaletown mailbox.
All are welcome. Members outside the Whaletown Postal Code don't have a vote (but neither does the President) however they still have the advantages of cheaper Hall rentals and WCC sponsorship, and there is no barrier to joining the Board if you are from some other part of the Island.
If you have any questions, please call Brigid at 6623, or drop me an email.
See you there!
