General News · 28th November 2013
On Tuesday, November 26th, there was a meeting, advertised and convened by the Cortes Forestry General Partnership at Manson's Hall, to begin the process of deciding what the whole of the Cortes Community wants the "Operational Guidelines" for operating the Community Forest to be. This was the first opportunity for the Community to have input to this unique, and historic happening. There were only 30 people at the meeting which included 5 of the 6 Directors of the Partnership.
It is this writers humble opinion that this turnout was a disgrace for such an important event. I would like to suggest that anyone who does not make the effort to be part of this process has abdicated their right and privilege to make any critical comment about what is going to happen with our Community Forest!
There will be a second opportunity in the 3rd week of January to further discuss the priorities that have been initiated at this first meeting. The next meeting will be advertised in Bertha's flyer, and on Tidelines. This will probably be your last chance to have input into the set of guidelines that will be the operating procedures of the Community Forest.
Watch for the exact date and PLEASE make the effort to be there!
