Do you care about food?
North Island College and Island Health are asking for your thoughts on food security in the Strathcona Region this fall with a public survey and a series of community conversations! Food security is when everyone has access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their food preferences, and is harvested or produced sustainably. The Cortes Island community conversation will take place Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10:30am-12:30pm at Linnaea Farm, everyone is welcome. Cortes has lots of interesting foodie things happening, and we would love to learn more about them and share with other communities in the SRD, as well as find out what else you would like to see happen in the future.
The results of the survey and the conversations will be used to produce an Action Plan to address food security in the Strathcona Region, and will help to determine whether a Food Security Networking Hub (an Island Health initiative) is feasible for our region.
