In 2009, Cortes conducted its first Housing Needs and Demand study.

In recent times, a few potential solutions have surfaced, such as the imminent purchase of their property by the Cortes Natural Food Co-op. We would like to update the 2009 survey, to confirm that there still is a need & demand for affordable housing on Cortes, and to help with preliminary design considerations, including potential locations.

If you are currently residing on Cortes Island, you will receive a paper copy of the 4 page survey in your mailbox soon, or you can pick one up at the local post offices. Otherwise, if you are a property owner and/or resident of Cortes, you can also go online to complete the survey: Please choose only one method to fill in the survey, either the paper copy OR the online version.

If you are a renter in need of affordable housing, or a land/property owner wishing to be part of the solution, be sure to fill in the survey AND contact Krista Ma at or 250-650-4711. Clearly state how you would like to be involved and someone will contact you after the survey to help set up a working group.
