September is here and we can expect logging operations to start up in the Discovery Islands any day now. Of particular concern is the proposed cutting of the west side of Maurelle Island in the lower Okisollo Channel. The Discovery Islands Marine Tourism Group has asked the BC Liberals repeatedly for a temporary halt to logging here as this channel is so important to eco-tour businesses.

But road building went ahead last winter and then in mid-June, BC Timber Sales awarded the contract for logging to begin this fall.

Film maker Daniel J. Pierce travelled up to Maurelle Island in July to examine the issues in this sequel to his film Timber And Tourism In The Discovery Islands.
