Cortes Museum & Archives
On Friday, August 9th, the Cortes Museum is sponsoring the first of its final three 2013 summer cruises aboard the MISTY ISLES.
Skipper/naturalist Mike Moore has timed this circumnavigation of Maurelle Island to
coincide with the tides necessary to marvel at the tidal rapids, whirlpools, currents, and eddies that surround this Discovery Island (located to the northwest of Cortes). Eagles, seals, and sea lions are often seen fishing in these fast waters, where the tidal currents can be upwards of 10 knots at maximum flow! As on all other Misty Isles adventures, Mike will share a wealth of information about the natural and social history of this area.
MISTY ISLES departs Whaletown 10am, & returns by 5:30pm. The fee for this adventure is $120 per person, including tax.
The remaining two Cortes Museum-sponsored trips this summer are a cruise to Cassel Lake waterfall in Teakerne Arm (August 14th), and a sail to Desolation Sound (August 24th).
