So far, the vast majority of public input received about the Klahoose Marina rezoning application has been from off-island boaters. It is quite common that locals wait until the public hearing to submit comment, but please do. It is very important that my rural colleagues at the Regional District board know the views of locals as well as boaters.

Just a reminder to all – please either submit your written comment by email to the Strathcona Regional District by 4:30 today at planningstrathconard.ca, or in person tomorrow (July 24th) at the public hearing, scheduled for 1 pm at the Gorge Hall. If you cannot attend in person someone else can submit a letter in person at the public hearing on your behalf. No input can be received after the close of tomorrow’s public hearing.

Two more points of interest:

1. It was the will of my three rural colleagues that I not chair tomorrow’s public hearing – a very unusual move. Instead, Jim Abram from Quadra will be your chair. I will still be there and will still vote on the matter.

2. Yesterday members of the Regional District board received a letter from Klahoose Chief James Delorme advising us that Klahoose will not be attending or participating in tomorrow’s public hearing.

Thanks, Noba Anderson
