Vijen’s one man show opened at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery Friday, July 19th.
Entitled Perjalanan, (the Malay word for journey, travel, path, to go forward.), Vijen states, “My life has taken many detours along the way. I have been blessed with experiences that mirror the phrase, ‘things happen for a reason’. I cannot portray moments concretely in words or pictorially but expressing my feelings visually has been my journal. My journey in life has been an accidental occurrence, a chance meeting that takes me to where I am today. My work reflects those moments.”
Vijen’s representational and abstract oils, drawings and sculpture is on display Saturday and Sunday July 20 and 21st, 2 to 6 PM and next week Friday, 6 to 9 PM, Saturday and Sunday, July 26 -28.
Next show in the Old Schoolhouse Gallery is “Spindle”, a group show featuring Terri Storey, Denise Gibbons, Ayami Stryck, and Monica Beal, August 2 to 11.
