Cortes Museum & Archives
On Thursday, July 18th, the Cortes Museum is sponsoring a sailing and kayaking adventure in the waters of Cortes Island!
Loaded with kayaks, MISTY ISLES will sail to Von Donop Inlet—a historically-rich area well-used by First Nations people, settlers, & loggers—on the northwest side of Cortes Island. After anchoring MISTY ISLES, participants will then have the opportunity to launch a kayak and paddle around this beautiful, protected waterway.
MISTY ISLES provides all equipment necessary for this adventure, & welcomes kayakers of all levels (including first timers!). Participants will depart from Whaletown at 10:00am, and return by 5:30pm. The fee for this excursion is $120 per person, including tax.
Other Cortes Museum-sponsored trips this summer include: a low tide reef exploration off Hernando Island (July 23rd); a cruise into Desolation Sound (offered on two dates: July 27th and August 24th); a trip around Maurelle Island (August 9th); and a cruise to Cassel Lake waterfall in Teakerne Arm (August 14th).
