At the last meeting of the Ferry Advisory Committee in Squirrel Cove, the Cortes members requested that an extra assured loading sailing be added. They also requested that the number of cars eligible for assured loading be increased from 24 to 28.
In response, I posted a survey on "The Gumboot" asking for a response from Quadra residents only, since they would be the ones most affected. We received over 100 replies, from the gumboot and from emails and phone calls to me. The results are that the request for an extra sailing was overwhelmingly rejected. The request for an increase in cars was approved. This was an exercise in democracy and I thank those that participated. I might add that Quadra Island is the only community in the BCF system that has allowed the use of assured loading sailings to residents from other communities on their route. If you have any questions/comments please let me know.
