We welcome the Gorge Harbour Beach House to our accommodation page.

The beach house is situated on a peaceful and very private 2 acre rural property on the Gorge Harbour. This bright and airy south facing home is located just a few feet from the water’s edge. The low bank beach is flat and rocky with areas of pebbles and sand. At low tide guests will enjoy exploring the coastline where there is lots of marine life to discover, while at high tide the water is warmed on its return over the hot rocks and the swimming is fine!

Large deck - relax in the sun or shade!
A wonderful view of Gorge Harbour is enjoyed from the large, sunny deck of this spectacular waterfront accommodation, with areas of shade provided by a beautiful large fir tree. A lovely handmade dining table on the deck invites lingering over outdoor meals. The stone patio on the east end of the beach house is a great breakfast spot and there is a lawn with room for games. Flower gardens and stonework create a lovely transition to the beach and forest surrounding the house.

Home away from home
All of the rooms of this comfortable beach house have views of the water and the sunrises can be spectacular! The sun pours onto the property all day, but with lots of opening windows, and a breeze off the water the house never overheats. The living room of this lovely accommodation has full length windows which look over the flower and herb gardens, lawn and water, and opens to the larger family/dining room where the table is set in a bay window looking out over both ends of the harbour. From the well apointed kitchen, large windows allow you to watch ducks, cormorants and loons diving and swimming under the water chasing their next meal, while eagles sit in the tallest trees waiting to swoop down for theirs.

The Beach House bedrooms
There are three bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with two twin beds. All the bedding is cotton with cozy quilts. There are two bathrooms, upstairs is newly renovated with a rainhead shower and downstairs has very comfortable old fashioned cast iron tub with yet another view out to the water! The washer, dryer and clothesline are all off this bathroom. This beach house provides you with everything you need.

The cabin
An exquisite little sleeping/meditation cabin nestled between a bamboo grove and the beach at the far end of the lawn provides a small double bed for a romantic couple or a single who want to get away from it all. Some families take turns so everyone gets to experience waking to the peaceful view framed by the large round window…

The Gorge Harbour Beach House property
Parking is about 30’ above and at the rear of the house. There is a comfortable walk down consisting of a couple of short flights of steps interspersed with a paved pathway, then a flight of wooden steps down to the stone patio. For those who want to bring their own kayaks/canoes, there is also a wide unpaved path leading down from the parking area to the lawn.

The Gorge Harbour & Whaletown
The very welcoming Gorge Harbour Marina, is a ten minute walk away (or a paddle along the shore), and offers a well stocked grocery and liquour store, seasonal restaurant, kayak and small motor boat rentals, yoga classes, farmers’ market, pool and hot tub. Whaletown Commons provides peaceful walks along a creek shaded by large trees just across the road from the Beach House. Whaletown is a nice mile and a half walk along a country road where the cutest Post Office in Canada and volunteer run library inhabit old buildings perched on the edge of the bay. The Old School House Gallery has various local artists’ shows open on weekends through the summer months with opening gatherings every couple of weeks.
