Love and Limits Parenting the Young Child
Monday April 15, 7 - 8:30 pm
Pioneer Room Manson’s Hall
*How do we define healthy roles in the parent-child relationship?
(Who is the boss…..should there be a boss?)
*How can knowledge of child development help us parent?
(Is this just a phase…and when will it end?)
*How can clear communication inspire co-operation without the use of fear, shame,
or constant negotiation?
*How do boundaries and consistency help to build confidence, security and eventual independence in children?
* How can we use connection, not separation to address challenging behavior?
We will focus on:
The Attachment Relationship
Child Development (0-7 years)
Rhythm, Routine and Consistency
Logical Consequences and Creative Discipline
This evening will be of interest to parents of children 0-7 years old.
Dayna Davis, primary teacher at Cortes Island School, will facilitate the meeting. Dayna has 25+ years experience working with young children, and is the parent of 2 grown children. She draws clarity and inspiration from her background in Waldorf Education, the work of Gordon Neufeld (Hold on To Your Kids), Rahima Baldwin( You Are Your Child’s First Teacher), Carla Hannaford (Handbook For Global Parenting), Barbara Colorosa (Kids Are Worth It), Kim John Payne (Simplicity Parenting) & others.
Suggested donation $5-10.
