Since obtaining my degree from the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific in Victoria, soil making was always my interest. I even dreamt that I would one day create an all organic soil product for sale. For over a decade now, while working beside many talented, passionate, and gifted gardeners here on the island, my experience with soil composition grew and so did my passion for organic soil and food production.

Well, just like the seasons change, life does too!
A few years ago I was given the opportuntiy to purchase an old homestead, once belonging to Jo Anne Green. When Vicki showed us the 12+¬ acre property, it was seriously overgrown and we recall her saying, “... just a little elbow grease“. Simply stated, the forest had taken back the land which had once been cultivated and it has been a challenge and joy to re-claim.

All of a sudden there was not only enough space to
grow an abundance of organic food for myself and my family,
no, there was enough space to start an organic soil production. Filled with enthusiasm, together with my partner Inga, we planned and planned and then we got to work.

Just like a good cook does not like to give away their best recipies , I will only tell you that our 100% organic soil blend is based strictly on alder chips and it includes locally sourced ocean fines. Cooked in small batches, professionally mixed, cured and packed with beneficial microbes our soil product is alive, not sterile. Teaming with worms we are confident with the structure and quality of our product.

Plant health starts from the ground up!

Only the best for your garden soil rates high in phosphorus and potassium. Two major plant nutrients that are known to improve root, shoot and flowering.
We recommend that you use it as a top-dressing for trees and shrubs, you can dig it into exsisting soil to improve microbial activity and water retention. It can even help to break-up clay.

We are pleased to offer a premium soil conditioner made right here, on Cortes Island at Righteous Gardens in Whaletown.
Packaged in re-usable bags, for you and the enviroment.
