A call to the Cortes Community for volunteers!
Everyone Welcome! Join us at Cortes Island School this Saturday!
The students have installed the garden fence posts and built a tire retaining wall in preparation for the community workbee! This Saturday we will be hanging the fence, building raised beds and gates, and making rich garden soil from topsoil, manure and fish compost. Please come work with us at Cortes Island School on March 2nd, to build the garden-to-be. Bring shovels, rakes, forks, mattocks, wheelbarrows, and carpentry and fence hanging tools.
Thank you to all those who have been involved thus far and who have donated supplies, including Coastal Community Credit Union for grant funding to build the garden infrastructure this spring. Special thank yous to outstanding community members for donations: Jim Hansen for topsoil and gravel, Reo McCoy for fill, Bruce Ellingsen for machine time and lumber, Ron Wolda for lumber and Joy Shipway and Siri Ellingsen for manure.
We welcome community garden volunteers to our workbee on March 2nd and to volunteer in the garden with the students this spring. Please call Laura Ellingsen, PAC president 250-935-6559. Thank you for your care and involvement.
Come enjoy learning in the garden with us this spring.
