The Cortes Natural Food Co-op is looking for a great new logo design! The current logo has served the Co-op well for many years, but now it's time for something new that will work well in a variety of formats and sizes.

To find a new logo, the co-op's Marketing Committee has organized a logo design contest and invites all of you creative and artistic co-op members to submit your best ideas. The winner will be rewarded with a sumptuous gift basket of co-op products, a $25 gift certificate, and lasting gratitude and renown. Entries will be featured on the Co-op website and put on display in the store.

Designs may be submitted on paper at the store or (preferably) by email to Finalists will be selected by the co-op board, and co-op members will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite logo to help make the final decision.

The perfect co-op logo should be cheerful, down-to-earth, and beautiful. It needs to be attractive and readable in many sizes and formats. In some cases, it may be printed in one or two colours, or in black and white, so simple graphics with clean lines and crisp colour transitions are ideal. If you have a lovely logo graphic in mind that includes a lot of colours or gradients, consider submitting it along with a simplified version that can be used with a smaller colour palette. Extra points go to designers who submit vector graphic files.

Since the logo will need to be printed quite small in some cases (on membership cards, for example), make sure any text is large enough in relation to the overall size of the logo that it will be legible when shrunk down to size.

And, a final legal note: make sure you don't use any copyrighted material in your logo submission! By submitting a logo entry, all artists agree that if the logo they submit wins the contest the Co-op will be granted the right to use the logo unconditionally without additional payment.

Sharpen up you pencils and start sketching!

Deadline for logo submissions is March 1st.
