Richard & Carol Trueman
On a recommendation, we decided to stay in the “old” part of Puerto Vallarta, El Centro, in the Hotel Azteca ($27 a night, double occupancy). We now have a much more pleasant view of PV.
While noisy and bustling, as most cities in Mexico are, the convenience, entertainment, beach promenade, and shops within easy walking distance made this two day stop-over very enjoyable. The room was quiet at night, so sleep was easy.
Of note, because we are vegetarian, was this fantastic restaurant called Archie’s Wok. Pictured in the slide show below is Thai Veggies with rice. We went back the next evening for the same plus a dish of Thai Noodles and Veggies. (Of course, you could have chicken or sea food with that instead of tofu.) Both nights, the price was $26 for the both of us, including two drinks.
The magic number: Our taxi from the airport, Carol’s blouse, the evening dinners, my hat, the bus trip to Melaque and our accommodations averaged out to $300 pesos a pop. Funny eh?We will return here March 1st for another 2 night stay before returning to Canada.
Next up: La Manzanilla
