My Family has lived on the west coast of BC Im told since the early 1800's we progressed fromt he San Jauns to Salt Spring, then to Cortez Island, specificaly Squirrel Cove. But there is where things go from pioneering to displaced... Our Family (the McGuffies) was always told by my grandparents, that they were forced off their homestead on Cortez when the goverment apropriated the land. From there we went to Redonda Island and finaly settled in Powell River before the mill and dam were built. I'd be very intrested in any historical documentation or local lore relating to this time .
As we have new generations in our family Id like to be able to gift them with the history of us on the Coast.. before the tales and stories are forgotten. Any one with bits to share feel free to email me , or find me on facebook I'm eager to hear back from you.
