Bertha for Manson's Core Group
Below is an email some of received from Noba about a public sewage system in Manson's. As not all of us received this notice we feel it should be made public. Also other islanders might be interested as the feasibility study will come out of your tax dollars.
Invited: Hello Manson’s Landing core residents, business owners and neighbourhood boards
For a few years now, there has been some interest in knowing more about long-term sewer options for the core Manson’s area. The new Official Community Plan also identifies this issue as worthy of exploration. Concerns have been raised about potentially failing septic fields in the area and their proximity to the Lake and to drilled wells. Also, questions have been raised about the construction of new infrastructure and buildings and the limitations that exists due to septic regulations. There are many water sources and septic systems in the neighbourhood, some new, some at capacity, some unknown, and some failing. As a neighbourhood, you have options that may be worth collectively exploring.
At the Strathcona Regional District there are funds available to conduct a feasibility study if there is interest in investigating long-term neighbourhood sewerage options. For the most part, we are well ahead of the ball here. Any work that is undertaken will be only at the majority will of those involved.
Wednesday, November 14th, 12:30 pm at the Co-op Cafe
Please come share your thoughts about your needs and explore first step options if further information is desired. Russ Hotsenpiller, Manager of Community Services at the Strathcona Regional District, will be there as a resource person to answer questions and provide information about options.
Please RSVP so that I know you have received this and let me know if you want lunch from the Café.
Thanks, Noba Anderson
