I signed onto the Tideline site this morning with the intent of adding the link to the Saltspring Island video in which BC Hydro openly lies to a homeowner regarding the installation of a meter on her home. It was most pleasing to see that it has already been posted.
Having said that, I also have a colleague that spends time on Cortes Island and he was mentioning that there is a high degree of anxiety over the BC Hydro Smart meters.
I wanted to remind everyone, though I am sure many are already aware, that there are three organizations working together to defeat this madness. The key word in that last sentence is "together" and by that I mean we need everyone's support to win this battle.
A legal challenge has been filed in the appeals court which will be heard in October. Information on how to donate and support this cause can be found at www.citizensforsafetechnology.org
A Citizens' Initiative action, similar to the petition and referendum that fought the HST, is also being organized concurrently with the legal challenge. This will keep the pressure up and help send the message to the government that we are serious. Should the courts fail us, we will be ready to go. Donations can be made at www.StopSmartMeters.ca
In the mean time, protect your existing meters. The BC Hydro man in the Saltspring video claims there will be an opt-out. You heard it!
