Monkeywrench Bike Collective
Hello Cortes Island!
We are the Monkeywrench Bike Collective and as you may have noticed, we’re now running your local bikeshop underneath the Co-op Café. Our work to date has primarily been with bikes, education, and youth; however our mandate is the creation of a safe and sustainable community space open to all the folks on this diverse island.
We’re entirely volunteer operated and are open on Fridays from 1-6; we would like to be open more but unfortunately, all of our collective members are busy individuals who are also engaged with paid work, parenting, and life in general. However, we would like to give more to the community; and to do so, we’re asking for some help. If you have a bike you’d like to donate, or see a nice bike at the free store, bring it down to us and we’ll fix it up and match it up with someone in need. If you’re interested in volunteering time or would like to provide support in other ways, please drop by during our Friday hours to find out how you can help. No mechanical skills necessary, we are interested in working with people of all ages and abilities. Not into bikes? No problem, we’re interested in plenty of other things too. We’d love to have you in to run a community workshop on whatever pleases you.
Thanks and happy riding!
