The Whaletown Community Club executive and members remember Gordie Carr with gratitude and affection. Gordie and his wife Val were, for over 40 years, staunch volunteers for the community. Both were ever ready to lend a hand at short notice, with style and grace, talent and wit.
The Old Timer's Band - Elmer Ellingson, Gordie Carr, Art Monk, David Blinzinger, Peter Gregg - brought everyone out to dance at the Gorge Hall throughout the '80's and early '90's on a regular basis - nobody who could get there missed an Old Timer's dance .
Gordie was generous with his music. He always gave his talent to community events whenever asked. "Let's ask Gordie to play the piano" was the byword for many an event and celebration.
We will miss you Gordie - old friend, good neighbour, wonderful musician.
