Fines suspended for materials borrowed by customers of Cortes Island Library Branch

NANAIMO, May 7, 2012 – Vancouver Island Regional Library has suspended the fines for all customers of the Cortes Island Library Branch.

Customers may hold onto any materials they currently have in their possession until further notice, or they may return the materials to any branch of Vancouver Island Regional Library.

“All residents of Cortes Island are also invited to attend an information session about Vancouver Island Regional Library’s plans for the library on Cortes Island on Thursday, May 10th at 1:30 p.m. at Manson’s Community Hall on Cortes Island,” says Rosemary Bonanno, Executive Director of Vancouver Island Regional Library.

Representatives from Vancouver Island Regional Library will share the results of the building inspection that took place on May 6th.

Community members will also be updated on discussions with the Southern Cortes Community Association regarding options for temporary quarters for the library and options for a permanent location for a library on Cortes Island.

Vancouver Island Regional Library is committed to providing an environment for library services that is appealing, comfortable, inviting and safe.
