I was shocked to hear about the Cortes library, sowent searching to see what BC has to say about its small libraries, and found they have a campaign to hear your stories about how the library has changed your life. Unfortunately, this abrupt closure of the Cortes library does not seem to fit with the intent of this campaign, so let's tell them our stories. The campaign website is: http://www.bclibrarieschangelives.ca/learn_more.html
, and here is what they have said about how important small, rural libraries are:
BC public libraries are a vital community destination and resource for literacy, recreation and informed decision making. Libraries across the province have significant impact on the lives of many British Columbians. We want to hear your story!
This website is a partnership among the public libraries of BC to capture and showcase the stories of our customers. This is an opportunity for everyone, young and old, to share how BC public libraries have changed their lives.
Libraries open the doors of opportunity for minds hungry for knowledge and adventure. Our public libraries are vibrant and dynamic community resources. The goal of BC Libraries Change Lives is to illustrate, through the voice of our customers, the value of today’s BC public libraries.
Please help us demonstrate the importance of our libraries by telling your inspirational story. Read. Watch. Learn.
BC Libraries Change Lives – Will you share your story?
