Cortes Island Literacy Outreach is inviting you to be a part of creating this year’s Cortes Community Literacy Plan.
Literacy affects everyone of any age; gaps in literacy can affect the whole community. Although not limited to these 9 essential skills, literacy largely falls into these areas: Reading Text, Document Use, Writing, Numeracy, Oral Communication, Working with Others, Continuous Learning, Thinking Skills, Computer Literacy.
Who should attend:
· You are someone who works for an organization or institution (or are self-employed), and you can see gaps where we can focus literacy efforts.
· You are a parent or family member concerned about access to literacy programming on Cortes Island for your relatives.
· You are an individual concerned about access to literacy programming on Cortes Island for yourself.
· You have ideas to share and you’re willing to sit on a Task Group that works collaboratively in order to build sustainable programming for the community. If you’re unable to sit on the Task Group, find an organizational representative who can give voice to your concerns on the Task Group.
As with other years, this is a simple process guided by three questions by Decoda Literacy Solutions, who oversees our work and funding.
If you want to join us on Monday, April 30th, at 12:00 noon for a 2-hour brainstorm session at Manson's Hall, call Coreen. I’ll be sending out additional information prior to the meeting to help you prepare: 935-0152
