Please join us on Monday, April 16th, 7pm, at the Co-op to explore ways we can better serve the community and help foster a stronger market for locally-made goods. At the gathering, we will ask you to consider two potential ways to build our island’s economy and support local artisans:
• first, by forming a Craft Co-op and building a new craft store/art gallery on the blue platform. In the summer months, the location would have increased activity in the courtyard due to the winning combination of bookstore, food store, bakery and craft store. In the winter, it could function as an art gallery, providing a focus for social activity.
• second, by providing the outdoor space for a Wednesday Summer Craft Market (no food vendors) in the courtyard. This would be a temporary facility until the new Craft Store is constructed.
We regret that our store is no longer able to serve local crafters, authors and artists by providing shelf space on a consignment basis. The Co-op is first and foremost a grocery store. While we have tried to give support through consignment, our store is small and space is limited.
See you at the meeting. We welcome your suggestions and feedback.
With thanks from the Co-op
