In the fall of 2011, the Cortes Community was given the opportunity to participate in Governance 101 - Building Skills, Building Community. Meaghan Cursons facilitated the workshop, Campbell River Community Foundation funded the workshop.
The funding application also included a request of funds to print a brochure for Cortes Island community members interested in joining a board / for organizations to hand out to possible new board members. This brochure is to give you some idea of what it is like to join a board on Cortes Island. What are your responsibilities, what is the mission of the organization, what will be your role?
The brochure is attached here. Or you can download it: www.cortesisland.com/BoardDevelopmentBrochure.pdf
The content for the brochure comes from a larger document from Meaghan that you can download here: www.cortesisland.com/Governance101.pdf
There will be a follow up board development in the new year with Marjorie Driscoll. Noba Anderson is organizing it. Please stay tuned for more information and dates, or let Noba know if you are interested.
